DIY Acrylic Nails for Beginners: A Step-by-Step Guide

Unboxing an Acrylic Nail Kit from eBay

In this video, I unbox an acrylic nail kit I purchased from eBay. The kit includes everything you need to get started with acrylic nails, including acrylic powder, liquid monomer, brushes, and forms. I'll show you what's inside the kit and give you a brief overview of how to use each item.

Acrylic Nail Tutorial for Beginners

Once you have your acrylic nail kit, you're ready to start creating your own nails. In this tutorial, I'll walk you through each step of the process, from preparing your nails to applying the acrylic and shaping them. I'll also give you some tips to help you avoid common mistakes.

Step 1: Prepare Your Nails

Before you can apply acrylic nails, you need to prepare your natural nails. This involves filing them to the desired shape and length, and then pushing back your cuticles. You should also remove any nail polish or gel from your nails.

Step 2: Apply Nail Forms

Once your nails are prepared, you need to apply nail forms. These are small, curved pieces of plastic that will help you to shape the acrylic nails. To apply the nail forms, simply place them under your natural nails and press them into place.

Step 3: Mix the Acrylic Powder and Liquid Monomer

In a small bowl, mix together the acrylic powder and liquid monomer. The ratio of powder to monomer will vary depending on the brand of acrylic you are using, so be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Once the acrylic is mixed, it will begin to form a doughy consistency.

Step 4: Apply the Acrylic to the Nail Forms

Using a brush, apply the acrylic mixture to the nail forms. Start at the cuticle and work your way down to the free edge of the nail. Be sure to apply the acrylic evenly and smoothly.

Step 5: Shape the Acrylic Nails

Once the acrylic has been applied, you can shape it to your desired shape. Use a file to smooth out the edges and create the desired length and shape.

Step 6: Remove the Nail Forms

Once the acrylic nails are shaped, you can remove the nail forms. To do this, simply peel them off of your nails. Be careful not to pull too hard, or you may damage the acrylic nails.

Step 7: Buff and Shine the Acrylic Nails

To finish off your acrylic nails, buff them with a buffer to smooth out any rough edges. You can also shine them with a shine block to give them a glossy finish.
