Chelsea injury update: Latest news ahead of Premier League clash

Blues boss provides fitness update on key players

Reece James faces surgery decision

Chelsea have been hit by a string of injuries ahead of their Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Captain Reece James is facing a surgery decision on a knee injury, while fellow defender Wesley Fofana is also out with a knee problem.

N'Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, Edouardo Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Hakim Ziyech, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Ben Chilwell are also all sidelined with various injuries.

Manager Graham Potter will be hoping to have some of his injured players back for the game against Brighton, but he admits that he is facing a selection headache.

"We have got a few injuries at the moment, which is not ideal," said Potter.

"We are assessing them all and we will make a decision on the team after training on Friday.

"We want to put out a team that can win the game, but we also need to be mindful of the players' fitness."
